JOY, American Idol, and Southgate...8/5/2009

I, as many, take advantage of our daily luxuries, often with out thinking much about it. Over the last two weeks I have come to miss one of the luxuries that I use multiple times a day.
JOY, DAWN, and I are becoming close friends! That's right, my dishwasher has decided to abandon the job it was made to do!
It is as if it is going through a midlife crisis, and one day just decided that even though it knows this is what it should do, it doesn't want to anymore. It has decided to run away with the cute little dishwasher that lives below it. You guessed it-both (I have the two drawer dishwasher) of my dishwashers decided to run away together!
How in the world I ask do BOTH dishwashers stop working the same week? The bottom drawer gets used half as much as the top, but still quits??!!!?? The dishwasher is 3 1/2 years old, so of course it is past its warranty time. It will cost $60 for Mr. Repair man to walk through my door! Oh JOY! I told Adam maybe we should just get a new one-his response Ummm, I don't think it will cost $1500 to fix it babe. HOW MUCH did you pay!?!? We hated the dishwasher that this house had when we moved in so Adam picked out a new one for me. I guess it is like sending him to the store for milk and eggs, he always comes home with oodles of things I would NEVER buy! So Mr. Repair man will come Friday to see which parts he will need to fix it-and will go from there. I am guessing I will be without it for another week or so. On the bright side washing dishes by hand is actually very therapeutic, just a lot more time consuming!

On a lighter note-I am going to try out for American Idol-haha not in this lifetime!! As we were driving home today Bailia said-Mom, I really think you should try out for American Idol. Laughing I said you think so? She said well you know every word to all of the songs we listen to, and you sing good. (For those of you that have heard me sing-I am sorry if you were drinking soda and it came flying out of your nose as you were laughing at her statement) I thanked her, and informed her that she had a much better voice than I, and that she should try out instead!
Which made me think back to the good ol' days at Southgate.

Mowing greens on the weekend was a fun, yet sometimes, scary job. I would show up by myself to unlock the shop around 4:00-5:00 in the morning jump on my mower, turn up my huge Walkman (if only Ipods were around back then!) and head out into the darkness to mow. Sometimes I would get so freaked out that someone was following me, that I would sing loud. Really, REALLY, loud. And you all know that the louder you try to sing the harder it is to keep a tune. I didn't care. I figured if I woke somebody up out there, and they had heard the off pitch singing stop, they would check on me! Silly I know, but at the time it made me feel better! Then one day one of the regular old man golfers came up to me and told me that he had heard me singing over the weekend, and that I should really keep my day job! I told him (even though I felt SO stupid) that if the singing ever stopped to make sure to come and find me! Funny to think back more than TEN years ago....boy, how the years fly by!!
