Things that make me smile...4/29/2010

This week is teacher appreciation week at school. I think that the school system may actually be on to something here! What if instead of Mother's DAY, we had Mother's WEEK!?! Then instead of the kids (and hubby) only thanking you for everything you do, and really trying to be good for one whole day, they would do it for an entire WEEK! A girl can dream, right?
The kids have done something fun for there teachers every day this week. Today was hat day, and of course I needed to get a picture. Bailia had to grab her soccer ball for the picture~that made me smile.
Grandpa Gary brought Bailia the BIGGEST rose from his garden last night, just because~that made me smile!
I have finally mastered the perfect (as close to perfect as I will probably ever get) dinner roll.~that made me smile!
Koda wrote Koda Bear on his school work today~that made me smile!

Slush and Cookies~ 4/22/2010

I looked out the window and what did I see, hail as big as a bumble bee!
Spring has brought us such a big surprise, icy weather bringing lots of cries!
Koda started playing with the ice, slipping, sliding, falling more than twice!
I thought that it was almost May, I hope this weather doesn't plan to stay!

When I picked Koda up from school on Thursday and I asked him how his day went. He didn't tell me about his day, he said I have been wanting Kenna's mom's pumpkin chocolate chip cookies ALL day! I told him I could make a batch for him. He told me that I could just make him regular chocolate chip cookies, because he didn't think I could make them like Ashley! Well of course I had to try to prove him wrong! When they came out of the oven I called him inside (he was still outside playing in the slush) and had him try them. He said mom take a picture of me taking a bite-I did, then he gives me a "this tastes gross" face! I asked him why he didn't like them, the little trickster had planned it and gave me the thumbs up and said I am just teasing you they are awesome!

Football, Boxing, or Soccer game?!? 4/17/2010

Today we had two brutal games of soccer. During Bailia's game she was elbowed in the back more than once, and the trash talking was a joke! Bailia said the girls on the other team kept saying you are a bunch of losers, and your team sucks!

Koda's game was even worse! Just as Coop was about to score his first goal, a boy on the other team pulled his jersey so hard he fell down backwards! Then after Koda's team scored a goal, making it 1-1, Koda ran around giving everybody high fives~including the other team. One boy on the other team didn't like that and cocked back to give Koda a knuckle sandwich instead! It totally freaked me out, which is why there is only a half of a picture of the incident! Carter jumped right in letting the kid know that Coop just wanted a high five, the kid calmed down and finally gave him one. A few of the other boys were knocked around enough by the other team to start crying! The referees were a joke and wouldn't call any of the bullying, so finally our coach told the other coach that we are here to have fun and to have his boys calm it down. The coach replied with I have never had any complaints before!

Koda started the game as the goalie. I walked down to take a few pictures and listened to the conversation between the boys. Here is a little recap of Koda's story that he is telling to his team mates of how he would like the game to turn out.
The ball is coming right at me, I do a back flip and grab the ball and throw it all the way to the other net! The other goalie tries to stop it with his hands but they ball is going so fast that his hands start on fire! He looks at his hands and screams, the ball goes in the goal, I do a double front flip, and we win the game!
The good news is Koda is taking the game more seriously and really got in there and actually contributed quite a bit. The bad news is he isn't as entertaining when he is so focused on the game!

I turned my computer on the other day to find the cutest post-it note from the kids. I don't even know what I would click on to find post its on the computer and have no IDEA how they even knew they existed, but they are kids, they know how to work everything! I am so glad I took a picture, because today when I went to look for it I couldn't find it! Just when I think I am the worlds WORST mom, they go and make me feel like the best!

Golfing~4/13/2010

Adam convinced me to leave all of the things I needed do behind, and go golfing with him. I am so glad I did! We played a nine hole scramble and we were even on the back nine! We even used a couple of my shots! We had a great morning together, thanks A for taking me with you!

Adam came home to pick Koda and I up, before picking the kids up from school. We took Sis to gym, then headed over to Red Hills for Jdog's lesson! As if golfing at Green Springs wasn't enough, Adam said we might as well play a round while Jdog has his lesson. Koda loved that idea! My body aches, but it was all worth it, time together is my favorite time!!

Baby Bunny~4/11/2010

We went out for a walk on the golf course last night to check A's gopher traps. Harley, as always, ran around like crazy! Then all of sudden Harley darts into the long grass, and stops with her nose in the grass. I told Adam there is something in there that she is trying to get, he looked and it was a baby bunny! I wanted to bring it home, but we left it out in the big bad world, hoping it would stay safe!

The dreaded phone call & a REAL gymnast! 4/9/2010

When my phone started ringing this afternoon I looked down and saw Mrs. Pentico's name, my stomach flipped! I quickly answered and Jaden's quivering voice said, Mom I fell at recess!
What did you hurt, do you need to go to the doctor?! I asked trying not to sound too panicked.
I don't know, it's my ankle, he said, not being able to hold his sobs in any longer.
I will be right there!!
I ran into the school and into the nurses office as fast as I could. Jaden lay on the table, Mrs. Dufrense had ice packs on his ankle, Mr. Cottom stood at his head trying to make him laugh, and Mrs. Gault was at his side making sure he was going to be okay.
He had calmed down by the time I ran in, but there is something about having the comfort of your mom being there when you are sick or hurt and as soon as I started talking to him he started crying with relief!
Luckily he just has a sprained ankle playing basketball! I helped him to the car and asked him if he was going to be alright. His response of "Kenna can't play this weekend, because her grandma is in town" told me that he would be JUST FINE!

Bailia came home from gymnastics yesterday with the BIGGEST smile on her face! She had got her first rip on her hand while perfecting her kip! Her coach told her that having a rip officially makes her a REAL gymnast!
She, of course, had to have her hand taped for school today so it "wouldn't hurt while she played basketball at recess."
Really a taped hand usually gets people to notice the injury. When she came home from school I asked how her day went, she said in disbelief that only ONE person asked me what happened to my hand!
