My Cute Little Koda Bear...6/27/2010

Church can be an interesting time for children. They are bored. They are hungry. They have had to sit still for so long, they want to be anywhere but there. But being a teacher, I hear some interesting things come out of the kids mouths, especially my kids.
Take last week for example when a rambunctious little girl in my class kept making fun of Cooper during sharing time. After a few minutes he had heard enough from her. He looked at her with his monster face (a look that you don't want to see) held up his fist and said in a loud voice "If you say one more thing I am going to give you a knuckle sandwich and knock you through the door!"
I was SO embarrassed! I'm sure the other teachers and leaders thought that I must be the BEST mom in America.
Scratch that!
They probably thought that I am the best mom in the WORLD!
But I have to give him credit, his threat worked, because the girl left him alone for the rest of the day!
The week before that a little girl, that is really touchy, had to be by me during class. She had to pet me almost the entire time~if you know me you know how I have a hard time with people touching me, but it kept her quiet, so I let her.
Then, right in the middle of the lesson, as she's rubbing my face, she said you know your nose is really red?
Yes, I said, it is a sunburn, now listen to the lesson.
I know, that's okay though, because your necklace is really pretty.
Umm, thank you?
Moving on to this week. Class had just finished, and I felt like I have felt every week since I began teaching the 5-6 year old children~do they get anything from my lessons, are they even listening to me? The kids opened the door and waited in the hall for their parents to pick them up.
As I cleaned up I heard one of the little girls say to Koda-your mom is the best ever! She is so nice, I love her as our teacher! That obviously MADE my day, and I couldn't wait to hear Koda's response. Then it came . . .
He replied with~She's not nice all the time, she grounds me from the Wii all the time!
NICE! That is just what I wanted to hear! Thanks Matty! :)

Three in a row...6/26/2010

The kids woke up early this morning, and immediately asked to go chipping and putting. So after their chores were done, I took them down to practice since Adam was playing in a tournament & we had a few hours to kill.
About one hour into practice, Koda started putting at a hole that looked pretty tough, even though it was only a six foot putt. I told Jdog to come over to try and make the putt. It took him seven tries, but he finally made it! I made a little bet with him, and told him that if he could get three in a row he would get a milk shake.
After another hour had gone by, Jaden had only made two in a row and couldn't close the deal with a third.
Some of Adam's golfing buddies had been watching him and stared talking about "that boy over there" saying they couldn't believe how dedicated he is, and that he just keeps hitting shag bag, after shag bag of balls at the same hole. I spoke up and told them that he was my boy, and informed them of our deal. They put two and two together and they realized we were Adam's family and just had to get in on the action! So they all went over to Jaden and started putting with him.
Their timing was perfect since Jaden had hit at least 300 balls at the same hole, he was getting really frustrated that he couldn't make three in a row, even though he had made at least 50 in!
Once the three men started putting they couldn't quit. They wanted to make the putt, they had to make it! One guy finally made one in, then two, but he could make the third either! After a while they decided to give up, and headed out to play a round of golf instead. As they left they told me there was no way he was going to make it, and that the milk shake was a really safe bet!
Jaden came over to me saying that it is impossible to make three in a row, three grown men couldn't even do it! I said, remember, even unsinkable ships sink, nothing is impossible! He said I can't float up into the sky and fly like a bird right now! Well, that is true, but you CAN make three in a row! I told him to go run his head under water and cool off, since we were starting to melt, and then come back out and try again! He said if I can make three in a row, can we up the bet to a large milk shake? Dog, you have a deal!
He went in the club house to cool off and came out with a look of determination! I watched him start the process all over again, he would make a putt, then miss, make two in a row, then miss the third. Then after about 10-15 minutes of that he hit one, then another! You could see in his eyes that this was going to be the putt to seal the deal! He even stepped away from the ball to calm himself down. He approached the ball, took a deep breath, and hit the ball.
It was like watching Tiger on #18 in the 2008 US Open! It was if it happened in slow motion! As the ball rolled you could see Jaden felt good about it, he held his breath, his fists were getting ready to pump, and the ball finally dropped in the hole.
He jumped high into the air, his fists pumping, shouting YES! I did it! It isn't impossible! He had the biggest smile on his face as he ran around the green saying Yes! Yes! YES!!!
So after more than THREE hours of practicing in the HOT sun, Jdog realized the saying must be true practice makes perfect!

St George Golf Club~6/17/2010

I have mentioned many times before that we have the BEST neighbors! At the St George Golf Club tournament John & Colleen wanted to come and support the kids. We all know how easily Bailia gets distracted, so they decided to follow Jdog.
Jaden was very disappointed in himself, because he didn't play well that day (shot a 28 placing 5th), but he LOVED that they cared enough to come and support him!

Park, Buzz, & Lemonade Stand~6/14/2010

It is weird how fast time is still going by. I thought that when summer came, things would finally slow down.
Wrong!
We were out of the house at 7:20 this morning for Bailia's soccer practice, and we ran ALL day! My legs (and tailbone-but that's another story) are KILLING me, but at least in between all of the running around, we get to do fun things like play at the park and have lemonade stands with our friends!

On top of the painful funny story that goes with Jdog's laughing face in the next scrap page, I wanted to write down something cute he said, before I forget.
Sunday afternoon J finally lost a molar, that has needed to come out for some time now. He must have gotten the tooth pillow that night without telling me, and put it under his bed.
Adam said to me just before getting ready to leave for work the next morning-I wonder how much the tooth fairy left for J?
I went to check on him to see how much she had left, and I couldn't believe he was still asleep! It was after 7:00~he must have been really tired because he hardly ever sleeps past 6:15! I didn't wake him, so I left the tooth pillow tucked under his head, and waited for him to wake up to see how much she had given him.
Then Adam walked in to tell him goodbye. He woke up just as Adam gave him a kiss and he said to A~oh good the tooth fairy finally came!! He then told me that he had checked at 1:00am and 4:00am and she hadn't come yet. He said that he started thinking that maybe the tooth fairy didn't deliver on Sunday's, so he finally went back to bed!
Maybe the tooth fairy doesn't deliver on Sunday? Maybe he was awake when she came the first time? Maybe she was so busy that day, that it took her all night to get to him! Whatever her reason, we are glad she made it safely here and hope to see her again soon, since Bailia has another tooth dangling!
