Jaden had yet another meet this weekend, luckily we only had to travel across town, instead of across the state. When we got to the meet my heart sank a little knowing that instead of competing against nine year old boys like he usually does, he would be competing against 9-12 year old boys. The other meets have been hard enough, the other teams practice SO many more hours than we do. I wouldn't change the hours that Jdog practices, I think he is already there too much, but it is hard on a kid not being able to place when he works SO hard. I didn't let Jaden know about the age group, he had enough on his mind already, and I am sure that would have freaked him out! When I picked the kids up from school last week Jaden got a big smile on his face, turned a little red, and said I asked Kenna if she could come and watch me at my meet, and she said YES! It turns out we need to have her come to every meet! Jaden has never been so focused at a meet! He wanted to good for his coach, for himself, for his family, but most of all he wanted Kenna to be proud of him. They have a true friendship, the kind that it doesn't matter that one is a girl, and one is a boy. The kind that even if they haven't been around each other for a long time, they are still completely comfortable with one another, and pick up right where they left off. He is so cute about her, and I am glad he has such a good friend! It is also nice that she feels comfortable with our family. When she is with us it is not unusual to see Koda give Kenna a big hug, tickle her, or even tackle her.Bailia and Koda were delighted to be asked to be runners/score keepers for the judges. At one point I looked over at Koda and he wanted to have a little chit chat with the judge, right in the middle of the event that he was judging! The judge didn't seem to mind, and Koda sat and waited for him patiently to answer. Bailia looked so cute standing tall with her score board, and it was a great job to keep both of them entertained.Kenna sat with me while we waited for Jaden's meet to start, they were running behind so we had to wait quite a while. I asked her if she was bored, she said yes-but I'm still glad I came. The meet finally started and Kenna cheered Jdog on at each event. He loved it!This is the best Jaden has competed at a meet, it was so exciting! His lowest scoring event brought in a 6th place medal, a couple of 5th places, a 4th place, and the highlight of his day was taking 2nd place! He wanted a first place medal SO bad, but standing on the podium you could see the pride beaming from his smile! I am SO very proud of him, and still get teary eyed just thinking about how well he did, and how excited he is!Kenna made Dog a cute card while we waited in between events, and also gave him a package of strawberry Whoppers, he LOVED it! We finished off the day with our Saturday obcession of Fish Tacos at Cafe Rio! What a GREAT day!

Koda and Sis had their gymnastics review on Wednesday. Koda has just started going two hours a week, because he wants to "make the team like Jdog"! Both Sis and Koda did a great job~Bailia has finally mastered her back handspring, without the help from her coach. Koda loved hanging out with Coach Robbie, Coach Jermey, and showing off on the rings!

I feel like I haven't slept since the Las Vegas meet. We drove up to Salt Lake on Friday, and headed to Jed's to use his internet to get a hotel. We didn't book a hotel earlier because we honestly didn't know if we would actually make it up, with the weather reports saying it was going to be mess driving. Adam got on Priceline, and couldn't find a room in Salt Lake-we are sure they were so busy because of the Sun Dance Film Festival. So, we tried the Provo area, it ended up giving us a hotel in Springville! That wouldn't have been a big deal, except for the fact that Springville wasn't even on the map of areas that the hotel could be in! Adam decided to call Priceline to let them know that they gave us a hotel that was a 15 minute freeway drive from where their map told us we would be! They of course didn't do anything, other than try to fight the situation, the first guy admitted that they gave us a hotel outside of the mapped area, but said he couldn't do anything for us. He passed us onto his supervisor, and she told us that there are actually two Spingville's in Utah. Odd~she must know more about the state of Utah than we do-I have never heard of a state having two cities with the same name! To make a long story short we didn't stay in the hotel that we paid for in Springville. After going to dinner at the Market Street Grill with my parents and Jed & Nikki, at 6:30 and not getting out of there until almost ten, then walking out into a snow storm, we just wanted to get to the closest hotel as fast as we could! So we started out on the freeway getting as far south as we possibly could, the storm just got worse and the roads were a mess! We finally ended up at a La Quinta-we have always had good experiences with La Quinta, but not this time. If it hadn't been after midnight, I would have got my money back and gone to another hotel! I could barley fall asleep thinking about the 13 pubic hairs that were on the bathroom counter and floor. But the kids were exhausted, so we stayed.
Adam and I finally fell asleep just after one, and woke up to Bailia screaming at 6:20 because Jaden had turned on the bathroom light, and woke her up. UGH!

Last night while getting dinner ready I heard an awful sound, followed by a loud scream! I ran outside as fast as I could, and found Koda bleeding from his mouth. I scooped him up and brought him inside. Between his screams I asked what had happened, in the most innocent voice he said, I just wanted to do a slam dunk from the trampoline, and my face landed on the cement! Koda found out the hard way that a trampoline, rain, a basketball, a basketball hoop, and a six year old boy is a disaster waiting to happen. I thought his tooth (or teeth) would fall out for sure! The top two teeth went through his upper lip, and his top right tooth had blood gushing from it. The tooth may still die, only time will tell, but he feels, and looks, SO much better!

When I found out that Jaden's meet would be held in the afternoon I didn't like the idea, but what could I do? Gary, Jaden, and I headed down to Vegas around noon. Adam had to do his prep for his colonoscopy, so it worked out nice that Sis and Koda could stay home with him. Sis turned into mother hen, and made a nurse outfit to help her daddy out as much as she could! We found the JW Marriott Resort and Spa easily, thanks to the magical voice that speaks to me in my car (aka GPS). We went in and had lunch, and still had just over an hour before the meet started. We wanted good seats, so we headed over to check in. I was the first one there-but I wasn't allowed in until the level 4 meet left the gym~no biggie, I will wait. Then we found out they were running behind, so I told Gary to go find a TV in the casino and watch the football game, and had Jaden relax on a couch nearby. I waited, and waited, and waited. The boys were supposed to warm-up at 4:45 and start at 5:00-it started at 7:00! When we were finally allowed in, even though I had been the first person in line, standing there for almost three hours, when I rushed in to get a seat on the front row we found out that someone from the previous meet had put reserve papers, jackets, and bags all over the front two rows! We were able to get a third row seat, but we were annoyed! Jaden did great, even though he was REALLY nervous, and tired, he finished at 10:30 and just wanted to get home! Jaden goes to bed around 8ish~so to say he was tired is an understatement! Not to mention he woke up anxious to go at 5:30 that morning! We didn't get home until after midnight! Thank goodness Gary went with us to keep me awake on the drive home, Jdog wouldn't have been much help, he fell asleep as soon as we hit the freeway!

Jaden has been taking piano lessons once a week for just over a year. He has come so far, I love listening to him play. He can teach himself to play almost any piece now! His teacher gave him a piece that he had never heard before, and he taught it to himself within minutes! I can't wait to have all three kids playing music all throughout the house!
Jaden practiced SO hard last night! It was the final practice before his meet this weekend. Of the six vault practices I watched him do, he stuck all but one. It just happened to be the one I recorded, and it just had a tiny hop! I am excited to watch him this weekend~it is very nerve wracking, but so much fun to watch him shine!
