Happy LOVE Day! 2/14/2011

I have never been a huge fan of V~day. Sure I have always enjoyed the thoughtful over-priced flowers that A would send to me, or getting the kids little Valentine's goodies has always been fun, but it isn't a holiday that I love.
Well that all changed last year, and it was even better this year! Last year Kenna and a bunch of her friends heart attacked our yard, and Jdog got her back by putting a huge banner on her garage saying "Will you be my Valentine?"

This year the planning started WEEKS before Valentines day. Jdog knew he wanted to heart attack Kenna this year, and wanted a poster to go with it. I said Crush soda would be cute to say I have a crush on you. He loved the idea, and then took it to the next level. He asked me to buy him a bunch of cheese-it crackers and sweet-tart candies. He painted on a poster "I hope this doesn't sound CHEEZY, but I have a big CRUSH on you! Kenna will you be my SWEETART?'' It was adorable!
Sunday night we loaded up the car and headed over to Kenna's house. All three kids were so excited, they kept saying we better not get caught! I pulled down the street from her house, the kids put their hoods up on their jackets (they looked like they were getting ready to rob a house), and they went to town decorating. I stood guard watching to make sure we wouldn't get caught, while the kids decorated. I had to say GET DOWN three times, because a certain someone kept peeking out the window! She should know that if you peek out of a window with the lights on inside, while it is dark outside, lucky for us, you can't see very well! They put the Crush soda, cheese-it, sweetarts, and foam hearts (that J & Sis had decorated to look like conversation hearts) ALL over their yard. Jdog then scattered the goodies, along with his poster, on the front porch. He finished it off by hanging a BE MINE banner on her garage, and we bolted. It was SO MUCH FUN! I felt like a kid again out toilet papering with my girlfriends!
Then to have Kenna and Kate come and decorate J's room (something they had been planning for a while too) and to see his face made the day even better!
Finally to end the night Koda had the GIANT stuffed puppy delivered to him from Anique. I don't think the day could have been any better. Oh wait, I would have changed the fact that I made a ham dinner, potatoes, and green beans. I should have served them toast! Almost everyone complained about something wrong with dinner! Oh well, I sent them to bed, plopped on the couch with A, and watched the Bachelor while texting Ash about what we thought about the show. It was the perfect ending to (in Jdog's words) an awesome, totally cool day!

Love is in the air...2/5/2011

Jdog honestly has the best friends ever. I know I say it too often, but I hope he keeps them forever. They all have such good values, get along so well, and the fact that I love their parents doesn't hurt either!
The kids have been talking non-stop about what they are going to do for Valentines, for their BFF's for weeks now, they are so excited to put their ideas into motion. It has totally put me in the V~day spirit! I have never been one to get excited about the old love day, but with the kids SO excited about it, how can I not be!?! So, I made them a few salt dough ornaments to decorate and they loved it!

Kate's Birthday Breakfast Surprise~2/5/2011

Koda had his first basketball game last Saturday. He's a lot of fun to watch, no matter what he's doing, and basketball is no exception. His expressions, comments, and dance moves are hilarious! He invited Ms. Webster to the game, she came, and he was SO excited. He got fouled a few times, by the same kid-who punched Koda every time would steal the ball from him! He had a great time, and we can't wait until his next game!

The Bake Sale~1/28/2011

When we all heard about little Jessica Schmidt, the four year old granddaughter of Mrs. Chipman, who is battling cancer, I'm sure we all thought~ What can I do to help?
Well Kate knew exactly what she wanted to do to help~have a bake sale! So, she suggested it to her mom, who is also known as Super Woman, and the planning started.
Jill is the master of all things, and everything she does is incredible. Signs were made, posters printed, and goodies were made. There were treats donated by all of the moms of kids that helped with the fund raiser, along with a goodies from others that didn't have kids helping. We had three giant tables overflowing with treats, and more in the garage!
The fund raiser was about to start and excitement was in the air. I was shocked at how many treats we had, and it made me feel so warm inside, knowing that there still are good people in the world. But I had no idea what was about to happen . . .

The fund raiser was supposed to start at 3:00, but cars started pouring in at 2:45! The goodies were flying off of the tables, and the cars kept coming. Even the UPS man stopped to donate, and he didn't even want a snack! Jaden and Kaden spent most of the time on the corner of the main road with their banners, letting people know about the bake sale. The girls took charge of the selling, and restocking of the goodies. The moms chatted together and sat back in awe watching everything unfold. We closed shop about a half an hour early. It was starting to get cold, and we only had a handful of cookies left.
We cleaned up, and headed inside to see how much money we had all raised. We dumped out the jar, which held quite a few bills. I was hoping to get to $500, Ashley thought if we got $500-600 it would be great, and Jill thought if we could possibly get to $1000 it would be awesome!
Well, it turns out none of us were right. We counted to five hundred, then six, then one thousand, then twelve hundred. It was getting hard to count with the tears in our eyes. People were SO generous, it was overwhelming. We ended count at $1621.01, then with Jill's donation, we ended up at an even $1700.00!
Seventeen hundred dollars.
From a neighborhood bake sale.
Put into motion by a ten year old girl.
Incredible.
People actually do want to do good, they just need an opportunity given to them sometimes to prove it. The kids were beyond excited. The adults were extremely humbled.
It was such a great experience for all of us. I am especially grateful to be friends with such wonderful people, who lift me up more than they know. I don't know what I would do without them!

Gym Meet~January 22, 2011

It's my journal, and I'll brag if I want to!
I love diamonds, always have, always will. If A can't think of anything to buy for me, a diamond is always a safe bet. And trust me when I say he hasn't been able to think of anything to buy for me on quite a few occasions. I am perfectly fine with that!
I have adored a ring similar to this for years. I saved the picture on my computer, and drooled over it every time I would look at it. I would show A every now and again, just to remind him how beautiful the ring is.
For my birthday this year A informed me that I would be picking out a center stone for my dream ring! Of course I was thrilled, yet hesitant at the same time. Many thoughts raced through my mind.
Did I really need another diamond ring?
We all know the answer to this one, No!
Did I want another diamond ring?
You know it!
So the want outweighed the need this time. Like A said, I know it will make you happy, & I like making you happy.
Have I mentioned lately that I love my husband? Seriously, I REALLY love my husband. Yes the ring makes my heart flutter every time I look at it, but I would love him with or without the ring. The fact that A would do anything to make me happy, reminds me why I married the guy in the first place. He loves me as much as I love him, and that's what make our crazy world work!
Back to the ring. Once we picked out the diamond we had the ring designed and built. It took a little over a month to get here, but it was SO worth it!
The pictures aren't great (photographing jewelery is not my specialty) but at least I will have a few in my scrapbook to remember the day I got this beauty!
