The busy month of December! Dickens Festival, Trimming the Tree, Surgery, Fun with Leaves, Basketball, Momma's Birthday, Christmas Program, Santa Letters, Nutcracker, Chopper 5, Party at Jill's, Christmas Fun, Bobcat, and Happy New Year!

Bailia is an animal on the court. We have all three kids playing City League basketball, plus Jdog is playing on another team in a different league as well! Yes we are busy. Bailia is the most aggressive out of our kids. She doesn't want to lose. Ever. She's a ball stealing, scoring machine! Last game she scored 32 points (or more~her coach said she lost track of her baskets~but know she had at least 32 points) out of the 52 that were scored! She scored 20 in the first quarter, then she had to sit (it's all about being fair when it comes to city league~everyone has to play equal time) then she came back and scored a bunch when she got back in.

My birthday was low key this year~just how I like it. It was less than a week after my surgery (which is the reason I look SO tired throughout the month of December) and I didn't feel up to doing anything big. We had a delicious dinner at Painted Pony, ice cream cake from Dairy Queen, and Nan and Larry came and "heart attacked" our from door! They rang the doorbell and tried to run but A caught them! Being in their 70's they were bound to get caught! Haha! It was really thoughtful of them, and it MADE my day!

Koda had the annual Christmas program in Mrs. T's class. She takes her class to the rest homes every year to put on a darling production. I'm sure it is the highlight of the holiday season for many of the people that live there.
I took Koda to school that morning with his costume in tow~he was a "toy" just as all of my kids have been~ and I had the lion costume ready to put on him. When we got to class, he suddenly didn't want to wear it. He knew he would get made fun of (he has a few boys in his class that like to tease and make fun of him. He HATES being made fun of!) and he refused to put it on. I begged and pleaded with him, but nothing would convince him to put the costume on. Then I told him that I was going to just take the costume and go home. I told him that the people that they are supposed to perform for probably don't get many visitors at all during the year, and that they are probably very lonely, and look forward to this visit as much as he looks forward to Christmas. He sat there thinking about what I had said, and then decided to put the costume on.
The show was a huge hit, the old people loved it! At the end of each program the kids are supposed to grab somebody to dance with for the last song, although most don't because they are too scared. Some of the people do look like they are just waiting to die, so you can't blame the kids. Koda picked his dance partner, a cute old lady in a wheelchair. He started dancing and singing to her, then as he turned around during a dance his eyes got big as he looked at me like he was nervous. I smiled and mouthed it's ok, you're doing good! Eventually he grabbed the little old lady's hands and started to dance with her. When the song was over Koda started walking away and then turned around and said I hope you have a good Christmas, and gave her a hug! It gave me the "spirit" of Christmas that I had been missing! He danced with an old man at the next home, and he gave him a hug at the end too! Man I sure love that kid!

The kids love getting their letters from Santa every year! This year they must have been extra good because he decided to send them a certificate stating that they were on the Good List!

We go to the Nutcracker every year. I have taken the kids for as long as I can remember. Kate has been in it the last two or three years, which makes it even better to watch! Knowing someone in a show always makes it more exciting! My kids sure are lucky to have such good friends!

The kids' elementary won 2,000 books for their school, a visit from Nadine Wimmer and Santa who came in the Channel 5 Chopper! The entire school sang Christmas songs and gave Santa high five~or in Koda's case, a hug! :)

Bailia practically floated out of school with a present in her hand. I knew immediately who the present was from. She jumped in the car and squealed Kyler gave me a present!! She couldn't wait to open it! He made her a beaded bookmark (he always makes a gift for her~she loves it!) and a box of different body butters!

Super Woman (AKA Jill) threw a Christmas party for all of the kids. It was SO much fun hanging out with the girls visiting, while the kids played. I was enjoying my girl time so much, that I didn't pull my camera out until Santa stopped by! Thanks Jill for being such a good friend!

We had a great New Year's Eve party! First Koda and Sis made a Happy New Year, banner. Then A called from the golf course saying they had spotted a bobcat! We grabbed our camera and ran out the door! We got really close to him, but the sun was down and we didn't have much light, so my pictures didn't turn out very good. Then we came home and had shredded beef chimichangas, and enjoyed ice cream while watching a movie. The kids were in bed by nine, I went to bed at ten. Just after NYC's ball dropped in Time Square! Happy New Year!

Every time I read your blog, I'm reminded of what a beautiful family you have~ your kids seem like such GOOD kids!
And that Hollister bag just made me laugh! I would've done the same thing but only because I hate wrapping!
