Spring Break Party-Another lost tooth! 3/9/2010

I woke up in the middle of the night, and heard the rain pounding on the rooftop. GREAT, I thought to myself, rain and an egg hunt do not mix! When I looked outside that morning, I could see a pond of water on each end of the backyard, and knew the egg hunt and party games would have to be held indoors.
The party guests arrived that morning just as I had figured out what to do about the egg hunt. I knew we could do the games inside, but the egg hunt sounded so boring and easy! There are only so many places an egg can hide in my house!
We started off with the Who am I game-what a perfect way to start a party! The kids laughed and laughed, especially at the boys who were girls, and the girls that were boys. It is funny how such a simple game can be so much fun!
After that each of the kids made their own pizza~yummy! Then it was time for the egg hunt, I had the kids partner up and interlock arms. The catch, one team member had to be blindfolded and the other had to lead their partner to the eggs! The picture of Bailia's giant pink blindfold cracks me up! Miss Independent/Impatient didn't want to wait around for me to help her put it on, so she did it herself!
I had as much fun watching the hunt, as the kids did hunting the eggs! Down, left, I said left, NO the other way, I would hear them shout! At one point Bailia was laughing so hard she could barley talk! The egg hunt lasted a lot longer than an outdoor hunt would have, and it was a lot more fun!
Next it was time for trivia! Jaden and Kate (oldest boy, oldest girl) were picked for the team captains, the teams were chosen, and the rivalry started! Bring it on, Josh would holler at team red! You are going down blue, Jake would shout back! I had come up with 35 questions, I wish I would have had more, because the kids had a lot of fun!
The relay races were hilarious-the ping pong blow was probably a favorite! After a bunch of games it was time to wind things down. Movies always help everyone relax before going home, so we put in Planet 51 and popped popcorn.
About twenty minutes in to the movie, I realized that I had forgot to do the egg decorating! I had four dozen boiled eggs in my fridge, they HAD to take some home! So during the movie I called a couple of kids over at a time, so they wouldn't miss much of the show, and had them decorate their eggs. The party was a success, and the kids all seemed to have a good time, I know mine did, which makes it ALL worth it!

Can you believe I have NEVER made my kids Sloppy Joe's? Weird right? Isn't that an all American food that EVERYONE has eaten? Well my kids have eaten one, at school. After that they never wanted another one. If you ask Koda about it he will tell you just thinking about the school lunch Sloppy Joe makes him want to throw up!
So Monday I decided to make some and didn't tell the kids what they were. Jaden and Bailia new immediately what they were, and wouldn't even try them, yes school lunch is sometimes THAT bad! I set Koda's plate in front of him and he didn't know if he should try it. He took a bite and Sis said I can't believe you would even try that! He looks at me and asks, is this a Sloppy Joe? Yes it is Bailia pipes up! Koda sat there for a minute chewing his food, then said I think they should be called YUMMY Joe's, they are delicious! They don't taste like the school lunch Sloppy Joe's at all! Isn't it amazing that a little homemade slop can taste so good!
