Park, Buzz, & Lemonade Stand~6/14/2010

It is weird how fast time is still going by. I thought that when summer came, things would finally slow down.
Wrong!
We were out of the house at 7:20 this morning for Bailia's soccer practice, and we ran ALL day! My legs (and tailbone-but that's another story) are KILLING me, but at least in between all of the running around, we get to do fun things like play at the park and have lemonade stands with our friends!

On top of the painful funny story that goes with Jdog's laughing face in the next scrap page, I wanted to write down something cute he said, before I forget.
Sunday afternoon J finally lost a molar, that has needed to come out for some time now. He must have gotten the tooth pillow that night without telling me, and put it under his bed.
Adam said to me just before getting ready to leave for work the next morning-I wonder how much the tooth fairy left for J?
I went to check on him to see how much she had left, and I couldn't believe he was still asleep! It was after 7:00~he must have been really tired because he hardly ever sleeps past 6:15! I didn't wake him, so I left the tooth pillow tucked under his head, and waited for him to wake up to see how much she had given him.
Then Adam walked in to tell him goodbye. He woke up just as Adam gave him a kiss and he said to A~oh good the tooth fairy finally came!! He then told me that he had checked at 1:00am and 4:00am and she hadn't come yet. He said that he started thinking that maybe the tooth fairy didn't deliver on Sunday's, so he finally went back to bed!
Maybe the tooth fairy doesn't deliver on Sunday? Maybe he was awake when she came the first time? Maybe she was so busy that day, that it took her all night to get to him! Whatever her reason, we are glad she made it safely here and hope to see her again soon, since Bailia has another tooth dangling!

King Mouse-a-Roid...reader discretion advised~6/11/2010

Remember the 31 mice we caught on our patio last summer? You know, the mice that gave Harley worms? Well at the time, I thought that was the most disgusting thing ever, and yesterday things became even worse!
After Adam mowed the lawn Thursday morning, he sprayed the back patio off with the hose. While doing so a mouse ran out from hiding and Adam somehow smashed it~gross I know. But the story is going to get even more disgusting~so those with a weak stomach~stop reading now.
Adam came in and said it is time to set the mouse traps again, so he set two out on the patio that night. The next morning I went out to check if we had caught anything. One of the mouse traps wasn't where he had set it! Strange, I thought to myself, and then I heard THE noise. It was a noise I had heard before, one that makes my insides squirm. It was the sound similar to the that of a cockroach trying to flip back on to its stomach, when it has flipped onto its back, just magnified one thousand times. Even though I am mortified by that sound, I had to look to see where the noise was coming from.

There, sitting under the lounge chair, was a GIANT mouse trying to escape from the trap! This was not a typical mouse, it was a mouse on steroids, or a rat/mouse breed, or maybe even a rabbit/rat mix!
Okay, so that last one may be a bit of an exaggeration, but I am not kidding when I say it is the BIGGEST mouse I have ever seen. And to make matters worse, it was still ALIVE!! How in the world could it still be alive? The mousetraps that we have kill the mice almost instantly!!
I ran in to get Adam to have him...take care of it. He thought I was just being dramatic, and came outside to check it out. At that point he may have sounded like a girl for 2.7 seconds, but let's keep that on the down low!
Adam grabbed a BB~gun and shot it.
It didn't die.
It took three BB's and clunk on the head for this creature to die!

I think I am going to be sick all over again...
Note to self: The flowers on the scrapbook page do not make the mouse any less disgusting! Nice try.

Later that day Koda went out to our putting green to practice. I went out with him and found this little bird trapped in a mouse trap, trying to escape! I quickly released it and took it inside. The poor thing was exhausted.
The kids sang to her, cuddled with her, gave her food and water, built her a nest, and talked to her, telling her she was going to be alright.
Sometimes that is all one needs in life, a little encouragement, telling us not to give up! She wanted to just lay down and go towards the light, but she never gave up, or maybe the kids just never let her give up. Either way after a good hour, or more, she finally had enough strength to fly away! It was a great ending to a very sad start.
The mouse traps will now be placed in discreet places, that hopefully birds will not find!

Happy Birthday Kenna! 6/10/2010

A few months ago I stumbled on to a cute blog, written by the most amazing girl named Jana, who is going to BYU. She has to be one of THE most talented young ladies I have ever met. You name it, she can do it. Photography, she's a pro. Cooking, it's as if she has been to culinary school-in France. Painting, give her a canvas and she will paint you a masterpiece!
I thought that having her paint a picture of Jdog & Kenna together, would make a darling birthday present for Kenna. I talked to Jdog about it, and he loved the idea. He even paid for it with his own money!
After we picked out a few pictures, we sent them to the master. A few weeks later she sent us her creation, and it arrived today. I opened it and couldn't wait to show J, it was PERFECT!
Jdog took one look at it and was so excited to give it to her that he had to call her right then!! Let's be honest-I couldn't wait either!

He was so nervous, and so excited to give it to her. He ran to meet her halfway, and they came through the door red faced and sweaty. Instantly he said, can I give it to her now mom?!? PLEASE!?!
She opened and said~with a shocked look on her face~you have got to be kidding me, and gave dog a great big hug! She kept asking how much he spent, but his lips are sealed. Let's just say that looking at the two cute kids in the painting, and knowing how close they are, makes it a priceless treasure!
After we took her home I told Jdog, I think she liked it, do you? He said, Umm, I think that was obvious mom! Sorry, I guess I'm a little slow sometimes! :)
Kenna~I know I embarrass you and Jdog all of the time, but I just want to write you a little birthday note to let you know how great I think you are! You are the sweetest girl I know, you show love and kindness to everyone you meet.
I am so thankful that J has a friend like you, someone he can laugh with, tell his secrets to, be totally silly with, and even cry with. The friendship that you two have is very special, and I am proud that Jdog can call you his "very best friend in the whole wide world!"
I love you Miss Kenna! Happy 10th Birthday, I hope you have a great day!

Momma Turtle & Cute Kids...6/6/2010

Being able to see this momma turtle lay her eggs made me feel like we were sitting in a documentary on TV!
Honestly, it was amazing.
I told my kids that this is probably something they will never witness again in their lifetime. To be one foot away from her watching the little eggs fall down into the hole, and then watch her cover the hole, until it looked as if she had never been there, is something I will never forget!
We will be checking on them all summer long, and if we are lucky enough we might get to see the babies! The video of her covering her eggs is a little shaky, we were being attacked by thousands of mosquito's, but it was worth every bite!

Family BBQ~5/31/2010

I threw Becca and her family a going away party last night (they are going to California for the summer) and it just happened to fall on Memorial Day. It turned out to be a really great party! When we finally climbed in bed last night (around 11:30) Adam said, I really had a lot of fun at the party! Mission accomplished! You know you have thrown a good party when everyone loves the food, laughs until their cheeks hurt, goes home exhausted (in a good way), and are still talking about the party the next day!
We ate until our bellies were SO full we couldn't move, munching on fruit & dip, blue cheese burgers, jalapeno poppers (which were delicious on the burgers-and this is coming from someone who doesn't even like burgers) baked beans, chips, and homemade Oreo ice cream! The kids (and grandpa) enjoyed the hot tub on and off throughout the night, and we had a fishing experience we will be talking about for a long time :)
I didn't get a single picture of the adults, we were all too bloated to want a picture of ourselves! Thanks for coming everyone, and have a great summer Facer's!!

Goldfish Heaven ~ 5/31/2010

So...it turns out I could have saved myself fifty bucks and brought Koda's goldfish home and put it in a glass vase, just as I had planned. We soon found out that the water conditioner gel, the pretty decorations, and the aquarium with a filter, did absolutely nothing to keep the fish alive longer. They obviously die no matter what! That, or I am a fish killer!
Gus Gus is the only fish still floating. Gills passed away this morning, and Fins passed away the day before. I am sure it is only a matter of time before Gus Gus takes the plunge with his brother and sister down the swirling tunnel into the big beautiful ocean. That is, after all, where they end up...right?
